What is Mobile Marketing?
Mobile marketing are strategies, practices and methods used to communicate with potential and current customers, clients, and students in an acceptable, efficient and interactive manner through mobile devices. Mobile media is growing every year with the majority of consumers using their mobile devices as a primary source to browse the internet and look at ads.
Since mobile marketing is so vast you need to develop a good mobile strategy that works for your company, what works for another company a may not be the same for your business. Below are some basic examples of Good and Bad Mobile Marketing Practices
Good Examples of Mobile Marketing
Keep the Design Simple and BriefMost mobile media users are limited with data plans and screen space so you need to utilize the space and design for mobile devices. Make sure you have your call to action at the top of page and in text form. If you have it loaded as a jpeg they might not load it and you will miss the opportunity to get your message across.
Utilizing your QR codes to the fullestYou want to maximize the use of the QR codes when customers scan a product. A great example of this is Home Depot – Martha Stewart Campaign. When a customer scanns the QR code in a print ad it takes you to a video presentation from Martha as well as links to call a Home Depot Designer. In their store they have QR codes on plants so when you can them it gives you instructions on how to take care of them.
Make sure you make it easy to shareThe Word of Mouth element in mobile marketing is huge so you want to make it easy for a user to share their experience and your business with others. Make sure you have links to the major social media platforms like twitter and facebook. You also need to have good clean URLs so a user can type and find your website easily through a mobile device.
Bad Examples of Mobile Marketing
Anything using flashAdobe stopped using flash as a programming language this year it would be pointless to continue to use flash based elements plus flash does not even work on Apple products like the Iphone and Ipad.
Huge Sites with alot of GraphicsLike stated before many users have data plans and a small space to work with so you do not want to over power the user with a graphic rich, huge website. The page could not load properly and its really annoying when a user has to search for what they are looking for.
Unclear MessageYou do not want confuse the user when they go to your site using a mobile device. You might have a lot to say but you need to focus on what you are trying to promote and what mobile marketing technique you want to use. For example using a SMS campaign you want to make sure to tell the user what to text and the proper number to text it to.
What are you thoughts and ideas on Good and Bad uses of Mobile Marketing?
A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of attending my Alma Mater Florida A&M University’s Homecoming. It was also celebrating my 5 year anniversary for crossing the “burning sands” of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. I would say that this was one of my favorite Homecomings I’ve been apart of as an alumni and undergrad. I got to see a lot of old familiar faces and meet some new ones as well.
I had a great time attending the School of Business and Industry’s Mixer. I was able to see old classmates and interact with the current students who are pursuing their dreams. Dean Friday-Stroud had really done a great job of revamping the School of Business and the mixer was a reflection of that. I was really inspired by the speech from fellow alumni Keith Clinkscales, CEO of Vibe Magazine, He stressed the importance of keeping in contact with fellow “SBIans” and that “We are all in this together”.
The rest of my activities were centered around hanging out with my Line Brothers and Fraternity. The Greek day party hosting by Greeks initiated in 2000 and 2005 was awesome, it was good to see fellow classmates doing big things post Famu. Topped it off with a great time attending the Homecoming Step Show and it is always good when we win.
Overall I left Tallahassee refreshed and inspired to push myself more in work and it also reminded me of how much I love and learned from attending Florida A&M University. I’m going to end this post with our famous Rattler Charge:
When the dark clouds gather on the horizon,
When thunder and lightening fill the sky,
When fate is but a glint in the eye of a fallen Rattler,
And hopes are lost friends,
When the sinew of the chest grows weary,
From those hard charging line backers,
And the muscles and the legs grow tired,
From those hard charging running backs.
You must always remember that the
RATTLERS WILL STRIKE, AND STRIKE AND STRIKE AGAIN!
Brian: 1.The name Brian is of Celtic origin and means; Strength and Honor. He is a very intelligent guy, who keeps his priorities straight and is extremely well rounded. Not only is he smart, but he is athletic, handsome, sexy, funny, and a great guy to hang out around. He instantly just gains your trust. He is very reliable. Brian will always be there for a friend, no matter what the conditions. Brian is very creative and loves to contribute ideas. He has dreams of changing the world, and making it a better place for all to live. He is always true to who he is. He is a natural born leader, who can lead a group of people yet still have time for each individual. Only the lucky girls will get to be in a relationship with this guy, but anyone can be his friend.

3. A reliable “lean on me” kinda friend
